The Department for Work and Pensions’ chief information officer Philip Langsdale has died.
Langsdale was appointed to the role of CIO in May last year, moving to DWP from BAA. A DWP spokesman said the department heard of Langsdale’s death just before Christmas. “He was a remarkable man and an outstanding leader,” he said.
The DWP has not yet announced Langsdale’s replacement, but last week Computer Weekly reported that MoJ CIO Andy Nelson will take the job – and that the role of government CIO is to be abolished.
