The Department for Work and Pensions is looking to “hire hundreds of digital specialists” to support a major reform drive.
The DWP said that it is currently undertaking a “huge and exciting once-in-a generation digital transformation of its services, accelerated by coronavirus”. This will require the addition of a significant number of technologists.
The latest tranche of roles are now being recruited in the organisation’s Technology Services team. This includes new hires in areas such as service design, infrastructure engineering, business analysis, product management, and user research.
“Working as part of a multi-disciplinary team, successful candidates will get to apply their skills to some of the country’s biggest IT projects, using innovation and technology to transform users’ experiences,” the department said.
The hiring process has been adapted to cope with the restrictions of the pandemic, and now includes video interviews. Those that join the department are also offered technology designed to enable immediate remote working, such as laptops and mobile phones.
Director of technology services Kenny Robertson said: “Many people think that government technology lags other industries – it doesn’t. Here at DWP Digital we pride ourselves on pushing those difficult technology boundaries to help make our services better. We invest in technology solutions, services and our people for it to stay that way. If you want a rewarding career, with great people and you’re passionate about real technology solutions solving meaningful problems for society, then DWP may just be the place for you.”
