Three departmental permanent secretaries have been awarded top recognition in the King's Birthday Honours.
Ministry of Justice perm sec Antonia Romeo becomes a Dame Commander of the Order of the Bath – which recognises the work of senior military officials and civil servants. HM Revenue and Customs perm sec Jim Harra and Department for Work and Pensions perm sec Peter Schofield both become Knights Commander of the Order of the Bath.
Romeo, Harra and Schofield feature among scores of civil servants in King Charles' second Birthday Honours. More than 1,000 individual honours have been bestowed.
Other high awards for current and former public servants include damehoods for outgoing Charity Commission chief executive Helen Stephenson and Ffion Hague, wife of former Conservative Party leader and ex-foreign secretary Lord William Hague. Hague previously worked as a senior civil servant.
Andrew Marsh, current chief executive of the College of Policing, and former Parliamentary and Health Service Ombudsman Rob Behrens both receive knighthoods – for services to policing and public service respectively.
Six civil servants and former civil servants are made Companions of the Order of the Bath.
David Alan Evans, director general and general counsel of the legal group at HMRC receives the honor for services to the government legal profession, tax and diversity.
Elizabeth Hambley, lately director general for legal at the Government Legal Department, becomes a Companion of the Order of the Bath for services to the law.
Elizabeth Claire Honer, lately chief executive of the Government Internal Audit Agency, becomes a Companion of the Order of the Bath for public service.
Simon Patrick McKinnon, lately a director general at DWP, becomes a Companion of the Order of the Bath for services to digital technology.
Chloe Squires, director-general of the Home Office's homeland security group, and Jenny Dibden, director for intervention-delivery at the Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities, both become Companions of the Order of the Bath for public service.
Elsewhere, former Ofqual chief regulator Jo Saxton, who left to become chief executive of education-clearing service UCAS in December, receives a CBE for services to education, and The National Archives chief exec Jeff James, who is departing in the summer, receives a CBE for ervices to archives and the public record.
