The Crown Commercial Service is looking for a new chief executive, as current chief Simon Tse will be retiring next year.
A salary of between £164,000 and £227,000 is on offer for the director-general level role.
The CCS was created in 2014 as the central purchasing body for the government and public sector and has been led by Tse since 2018. The successful candidate will lead over 800 staff based across five main locations in the UK, and “drive the organisation to achieve an even greater level of impact and influence”, the job advert says.
Tse first joined CCS in May 2016, leading the procurement operations directorate. He then served as interim CEO from July 2018 before being appointed on a permanent basis in December that year.
In a foreword to the candidate pack for the application, civil service chief operating officer Alex Chisholm – who is also stepping down next year – said the new chief exec need to be “an exceptional leader with excellent business acumen who will build on the strong foundations laid down”.
“They will deliver CCS’s ambitious plans and its vision to be the provider of choice for public sector organisations,” he added.
The advertisement for the role states the successful candidate can be based in Birmingham, Liverpool, Newport (Gwent) or Norwich.
The successful applicant will be entitled to performance-related pay worth up to 20%.
Applications are open until 11.55pm on Sunday, 14 January 2024.
