DWP seeks £140k digital delivery director to lead major projects

Role comes with a remit to oversee the development and rollout of a number of big-ticket products and services

The Department for Work and Pensions is recruiting for a digital delivery director to lead its work to develop and run major technology and data projects.

The key responsibilities of the post include heading up the development and delivery of a number of “large-scale platforms using innovative technologies and data” that the DWP intends to build and roll out in the coming months and years.

Included in this will be work to “design, develop, deliver, and support one of UK’s largest platforms to pay and receive money”. Other products and services the department intends to develop include “analytics to prevent and detect fraud and error, and recover money owed”.

The successful candidate will also oversee a project to create a “library of reusable code and loosely coupled services for use by hundreds of products”.

They will also be expected to “lead multi-disciplinary teams to design, plan, deliver and maintain products”, as well as being a key part of DWP’s digital leadership team, and the wider Whitehall community of technology leaders.

The department is looking for a “transformation-focused business leader… [with an] inspirational depth of design, technology, big data, and delivery expertise”.

The role comes with an estimated salary of £140,000 and could be based in one or more of London, Blackpool, Leeds, Newcastle-upon-Tyne, and Sheffield.

The deadline for applications is 2 April. Following the creation of a longlist and then a shortlist, successful applicants will take part in assessment exercises in the two-week period beginning on 23 April. Final panel interviews will take place during the week commencing 7 May.
