Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office security guards have been awarded pay rises of up to 13% following a dispute over low pay.
The security staff, who are employed by British multinational security firm G4S, have won pay increases of between 9.71% and 13.05%, according to the GMB union.
This pay uplift applies to staff across the G4S contract, including its headquarters at King Charles Street House, and those working at FCDO Services' Hanslope Park, and at FCDO executive agency Wilton Park in West Sussex.
G4S took over the contract in July 2023 and GMB said the company had failed to provide security guards with any wage increase until now.
GMB regional organiser Andre Marques said: “This is a great win for security guards on the FCDO contract.
“Some workers were struggling on wages as low as the minimum wage, and this uplift is a vital step towards fairness and dignity at work.
“Security guards play a crucial role in protecting key sites, and they deserve to be properly rewarded for their efforts.”
G4S has been approached for comment.
