New appointments in the civil service, UK politics, and public affairs, via our colleagues at Dods People
UK government
- Prime Minister's Office – Gavin Williamson CBE MP has received a knighthood. Baroness Williams of Trafford appointed as a privy counsellor. Lord Hodge appointed as Her Majesty’s lord high commissioner to the General Assembly of the Church of Scotland in 2022.
- Cabinet Office – Baroness Stuart of Edgbaston confirmed as first civil service commissioner.
- Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs: Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew – Dame Amelia Fawcett re-appointed as chair from 26 October to 26 October 2025.
- Home Office – Mick Creedon appointed to conduct an independent review into police management of registered sex offenders in the community. The review will be undertaken in line with the Tackling Child Sexual Abuse Strategy and will commence imminently. It will aim to report back to the home secretary, safeguarding minister and crime and policing minister by the end of this year.
- Department for International Trade – David Duguid MP appointed as the prime minister's trade envoy to Angola and Zambia. Yvonne Fovargue MP appointed as the prime minister's trade envoy to Tunisia and Libya.
- Office of the Secretary of State for Wales – Colonel James Phillips appointed as the veterans' commissioner for Wales.

House of Commons
- Birmingham, Erdington by-election – Paulette Hamilton held the seat for Labour with a majority of 3,266.
House of Lords
- Baroness Shields was granted a leave of absence on 1 March.
- Bishop of Liverpool retired from the House of Lords on 2 March.
Devolved administrations
Scottish Government
- Scottish National Investment Bank – Eilidh Mactaggart resigned as chief executive; chief financial officer Sarah Roughead appointed interim chief executive.
Welsh Government
- Cwmni Egino – Alan Raymant appointed as chief executive from 1 March; Robert Davies and Kevin McCullough appointed as board members with immediate effect.
Northern Ireland Executive
- Agri-Food and Biosciences Institute – Colin Coffey re-appointed as chair for two years.
Local authorities
- Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council – Simon Bound (Conservative) elected as council leader.
- East Staffordshire Borough Council – Duncan Goodfellow (Conservative) resigned as council leader; deputy leader George Allen will take temporary charge while a new leader is sought.
