The civil service is "leading by example" with its ambitious plans to create 30,000 new apprenticeships by 2020, according to the organisation's chief executive John Manzoni.

To take a closer look at the picture on apprenticeships right across the country, CSW teamed up with our Dods sister titles Training Journal and The House magazine to put together a special 2017 Apprenticeships Guide.

The guide features exclusive pieces by Greg Hobbs, the deputy director of Fast Stream and Early Talent in the civil service, Keith Johnston from the PCS Union – who details the union's new deal with the Cabinet Office on apprenticeships – and an interview with Robert Halfon, the minister overseeing the nationwide push. It also looks in detail at the new Apprenticeship Levy and private sector efforts to get the apprenticeship revolution rolling.
