Changes at the top in Cafcass but chair stays in place

The Children and Family Court Advisory and Support Service (Cafcass) has appointed four new board members, it was announced on Monday 8 December.

Nickie Aiken, Caroline Corby, Fay Selvan and Stuart Smith were each appointed for three-year terms and started on Monday 1 December.

Each member will be responsible for ensuring that the welfare of children involved in family court proceedings is safeguarded and promoted.

According to the Ministry of Justice, each member was chosen “on merit in accordance with the principles of the Commissioner for Public Appointment’s Code of Practice”.

Baroness Claire Tyler will remain in her role as chair for a second term of three years, it was also announced on Monday.

Tyler became Cafcass chair in February 2012 and will start her second term on 24 January 2015.
