At a hearing on Tuesday, Vaz noted that Sedwill (pictured above) has intervened “on a number of occasions when we’ve had difficulties in arranging meetings and getting letters from the Home Office,” and this is “a great change as far as we’re concerned, and we’re very grateful for your interventions.”
However, Vaz later criticised David Wood, director general of the Immigration Enforcement Directorate, and Sarah Rapson, director general of UK Visas and Immigration Directorate, for being slow to supply figures.
In one case a letter was delayed by ten weeks, and only supplied after the home secretary intervened.
