A cross-government team of officials who delivered cost-of-living payments to benefit recipients and a civil servant who supported the UK’s provision of equipment to Ukraine are among the winners of the 2022 Civil Service Awards.
A team of policy, legal, analytical, communications and project professionals from across departments including the Treasury, HM Revenue and Customs, the Department for Work and Pensions and the Government Legal Department scooped the One Civil Service Award for their efforts to design a payment policy and legislation that allowed payments worth £15bn to be paid to eight million low-income families and six million disabled people.
And Clarice Pettit, a senior MoD policy officer, took home the Prime Minister’s Award for Exceptional Public Service for her work leading projects that supported the provision of UK equipment to Ukraine and coordinating global support for equipment and ammunition following Russia’s invasion.
“Through all of this Clarice has brilliantly modelled the best of the Civil Service, demonstrating a total commitment to public service and astonishing capacity and work ethic which inspires those around her. As a young civil servant, her grip of the issues and the quality of her advice leave even senior military officers in awe,” her nomination read.
They are among 13 teams and individuals who brought home accolades from this year’s Civil Service Awards, which recognise innovation, dedication and achievement across government, and which were presented at a glitzy ceremony at Lancaster House last night.
