Government departments

  • Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport: Museum of the Home – Alain Clapham, Viscount Colville of Culross and Professor Caroline Malone appointed as trustees for three years from 4 November to 3 November 2024. Office of Communications – Gill Whitehead appointed chief executive of the Digital Regulation Cooperation Forum (DRCF) from 15 November. Tate – Michael Lynton re-appointed as a trustee for four years until 21 June 2025.
  • Department of Health and Social Care: Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency – Dr Laura Squire OBE appointed as chief healthcare quality and access officer.
  • Home Office – Robin Simcox's interim term as commissioner for countering extremism has been extended until March 2022. Julia Wortley re-appointed as the independent monitor of the Disclosure and Barring Service for three years until 30 September 2024.
  • HM Treasury: National Savings & Investments – Nina Hingorani-Crain appointed as non-executive director to the board for three years from 1 November.
  • Department for Work and Pensions: Industrial Injuries Advisory Council – Dr Ian Lawson re-appointed for five years from 1 November.

Houses of Parliament

House of Commons

  • Owen Paterson appointed Steward and Bailiff of the Manor of Northstead. A by-election will take place in North Shropshire in due course.
  • A by-election will take place in the Old Bexley and Sidcup constituency on Thursday 2 December.
  • Backbench Business Committee – Duncan Baker added; Gareth Bacon discharged.
  • European Scrutiny Committee – Margaret Hodge added; Charlotte Nichols discharged.
  • European Statutory Instruments Committee – Margaret Hodge added; Charlotte Nichols discharged.
  • Health and Social Care Committee – Lucy Allan added; James Davies discharged.
  • Home Affairs Committee – James Daly and Gary Sambrook added; Dehenna Davison and Ruth Edwards discharged.

House of Lords

  • Bishop of Chelmsford was introduced to the House of Lords on 1 November.
  • Lord Hunt of Chesterton (Labour, life peer) retired from the House of Lords on 30 October.
  • Baroness Hilton of Eggardon (Labour, life peer) retired from the House of Lords on 5 November.
  • Lord Hughes of Woodside (Labour) granted leave of absence on 4 November.
  • Lord Biddulph (Conservative), Lord Hacking (Labour) and Lord Kennet (Labour) announced as candidates for the hereditary peer by-election to replace Viscount Simon (Labour). The result will be announced to the House of Lords on 15 November.
  • International Agreements Committee – Lord Razzall added; Lord Foster of Bath discharged.
  • Liaison Committee – Lord Collins of Highbury and Baroness Scott of Needham Market added; Baroness Hayter of Kentish Town discharged.

  • Louie French selected as the Conservative’s parliamentary candidate for the Old Bexley and Sidcup by-election on 2 December.

Devolved administrations

Northern Ireland Assembly

  • Agriculture, Environment and Rural Affairs Committee – Thomas Buchanan added.
  • Communities Committee – Aisling Reilly added.
  • Health Committee – Deborah Erskine added; Jonathan Buckley discharged.

Northern Ireland Executive

  • Northern Ireland Policing Board – Jonathan Buckley added; Tom Buchanan discharged.

Local authorities

  • Cumbria County Council – Gill Stewart to stand down as chief executive on 1 December.
  • Flintshire County Council – Neal Cockerton became chief executive on 1 November.
  • Harlow Council – Russell Perrin (Conservative) appointed leader of the council.
  • Hillingdon Council – Fran Beasley to retire as chief executive on 31 December.
  • Perth and Kinross Council – Thomas Glen became chief executive on 1 November.
  • Waverley and Guildford Borough Councils – Tom Horwood will become chief executive of both councils in early December as the authorities move towards a joint management structure.
