UK government

  • Cabinet Office: Government Property Agency – Anna Strongman appointed as non-executive director. Senior Salaries Review Body – Lea Paterson appointed as chair from 17 October
  • Department for Culture, Media and Sport: UK Sport – Maureen Campbell appointed as Scotland board member for four years until 31 May 2028.
  • Department for Education: Science Advisory Council – Professor Dame Athene Donald appointed as chair; Professor Mark Mon-Williams appointed as deputy chair; Professor Chris Bonell, Professor William J Browne, Dr Claire Crawford, Michael Cribb, Dr Dougal Hargreaves, Dr Sonya Krutikova, Professor Rose Luckin, Dr Amy Orben, Professor Paul Ramchandani and Professor Michael J Reiss appointed as members
  • Department for Energy Security and Net Zero: North Sea Transition Authority – Liz Ditchburn appointed as chair from 22 October
  • Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs – Dan Corry appointed to lead an internal review into the regulation and regulators at the Department for Environment, Food & Rural Affairs
  • Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office – Michael Tatham appointed as British high commissioner to the Republic of Cyprus from November, succeeding Irfan Siddiq who will be transferring to another Diplomatic Service appointment. Joëlle Jenny appointed as His Majesty’s ambassador to the Kingdom of Denmark, succeeding Emma Hopkins who will be transferring to another Diplomatic Service appointment. Jon Dean appointed as British high commissioner to the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago from December, succeeding Harriet Cross who will be transferring to another diplomatic service appointment.
  • Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government: Warrington Borough Council – Michael Hainge and Richard Paver appointed as assistant inspectors
  • Department for Work and Pensions – Mariella Frostrup appointed as government menopause employment ambassador.

Houses of Parliament

House of Commons

  • House of Commons Commission – Marie Goldman and Nick Smith added
  • Committee of Selection – Jessica Morden appointed as chair; Joy Morrissey and Tom Morrison added; Stuart Anderson and Wendy Chamberlain discharged
  • Joint Committee on Statutory Instruments – Bernard Jenkin appointed as chair; Lewis Atkinson, Mark Ferguson, Claire Hughes, Gordon McKee, Charlie Maynard and Julie Minns appointed as members.

House of Lords

  • Baroness Laing of Elderslie and Baroness Cass were introduced in the Lords on 14 October
  • Lord Mackinlay of Richborough was introduced in the Lords on 17 October.

Parties

Scottish National Party

  • John Mason expelled from the party on 12 October. He has 21 days to appeal the decision.

Welsh Parliament

  • NEW Future Senedd Committee – David Rees appointed as chair; Julie James, Alun Davies, Darren Millar and Heledd Fychan appointed as members.

Northern Ireland Executive

  • NI Screen – Fionnuala Deane and Mark Huffam re-appointed as members for three years.

Local Authorities

Maldon District Council – Doug Wilkinson appointed as chief executive from 14 October

Manchester City Council – Tom Stannard appointed as chief executive from the new year. He will leave his role as chief executive of Salford City Council.
