The National Audit Office (NAO) has qualified the 2011-12 Civil Superannuation Accounts, which are kept by the Cabinet Office and report the financial results of the Principal Civil Service Pension Scheme and a number of other small public sector pension schemes.
The NAO found improvements in record-keeping, but said that the Cabinet Office’s records and evidence are still too weak.
“It’s no surprise that the NAO has qualified the accounts, because in the past pension record-keeping within government has been lacking – and in this instance, we were unable to provide the NAO with sufficient historic information within the timescale set,” a Cabinet Office spokesperson said.
