It will work with the government of New South Wales in Australia, looking at public policy areas to find ways of saving money by influencing individual decision-making.

The unit is expanding overseas on a “charge-for” basis under which other governments will pay for individuals to work abroad, allowing the unit to recruit additional personnel.

The nudge unit has also secured a contract with Freebridge Housing Association in Kings Lynn, working to improve behaviour on the Hillington Square estate.

According to the government the unit has made £300m of savings since 2010 and will save another £300m over the next five years.
