New appointments in the civil service, UK politics, and public affairs, via Dods People

UK Government

  • Prime minister's Office – The Reverend Canon Dr Simon Jones appointed as Dean of Lincoln, succeeding The Very Reverend Christine Wilson following her resignation.
  • Cabinet Office –  General Gwyn Jenkins appointed as national security adviser, replacing Sir Tim Barrow in the summer Crown Commercial Service – Sam Ulyatt replaces Simon Tse as chief executive, starting a handover period in July.
  • Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities: Leasehold Advisory Service Board – Kim Caddy appointed as non-executive director and chair of the Audit and Risk Assurance Committee for four year until 24 March 2028; Paula Higgins and Wendy Wilson appointed as non-executive directors for four years until 24 March 2028; Emer McNally appointed as non-executive director for three years until 24 March 2027.
  • HM Treasury: Financial Policy Committee – Liz Oakes appointed as external member for three years from 3 June; Carolyn Wilkins re-appointed as external member from 21 June.

  • Paul Holmes appointed as an assistant government whip, replacing Ruth Edwards who has left the Government.
  • Public Administration and Constitutional Affairs Committee – current nominations for chair are: Jackie Doyle-Price and Tom Randall.
  • European Scrutiny Committee – Sammy Wilson added; Gavin Robinson discharged.
  • Procedure Committee – Andrew Western added; Liz Twist discharged.

House of Lords

  • Baroness Gardner of Parkes (Conservative, life peer) died on 14 April.
  • Baroness Massey of Darwen (Labour, life peer) died 20 April.
  • Lord Field of Birkenhead (Crossbench, life peer) died on 23 April.
  • Lord Kakkar and Lord Peach appointed as Companions to the Order of the Garter on 23 April.
  • Lord Goodman of Wycombe (Conservative, life peer) was introduced in the House on 23 April.

Devolved Administrations

Scottish Government

  • Patrick Harvie (minister for zero carbon buildings, active travel and tenants' rights) and Lorna Slater (minister for green skills, circular economy and biodiversity) left the Scottish Government on 25 April.
  • Manish Joshi and Rory Mair appointed as non-executive directors for the Scottish Government; Helen Dean appointed as non-executive director for the Scottish Government from early autumn.
  • Standards Commission for Scotland – Morag Ferguson and Lezley Stewart appointed as members.

Welsh Parliament

  • Children, Young People and Education Committee – Hefin David, Gareth Davies, Tom Giffard and Jack Sargeant added; James Evans and Laura Anne Jones discharged.
  • Climate Change, Environment and Infrastructure Committee – Julie Morgan and Carolyn Thomas added; Huw Irranca-Davies and Jenny Rathbone discharged.

  • Charities Advisory Committee – Terence Hann, Rebecca Hutchinson and Ben Murray appointed as members from 1 May until 30 April 2028; David Murphy re-appointed as chair until 31 March 2028.
  • Northern Ireland Local Government Officers’ Superannuation Committee – Paul Francey, Antoinette McMillen, Michael Rafferty and John Tohill re-appointed as members until 31 March 2028; Kenneth Clayton, Alan Law, Shane McCurdy and Peter Moore re-appointed as members until 30 September 2028; Joan McCaffrey’s term as member extended until a new independent member is appointed.
