The Treasury is recruiting for a chief information officer to manage a multi-million budget and oversee IT service delivery to more than 2,000 staff.
According to a job advert posted by the Treasury, the salary will be £90,000 and the new recruit will be expected to have excellent commercial as well as technology skills.
The role – currently held by Karen Delafield – comes with the second title of head of information work place solutions, which involves managing a team of 50 staff in delivering technology and information services to staff in the Treasury group.

Two-thirds of the 2,000-strong group are in London, with the rest spread out across smaller regional teams, and the Treasury said the team delivers most of its services through commercial arrangements with multiple suppliers.
The new recruit will also be responsible for managing a £50m annual IT budget, as well as ensuring a steady income stream of around £15m a year to cover some of these costs.
The Treasury said the job calls for experience of leadership, strategic technology planning and the ability to successful manage relationships with commercial suppliers to get the best value for money.
The job specification said that candidates will have to evidence that they have several years of commercial contracting experience in the “£10m-plus technology market”.
The CIO will also have to have experience of complying with relevant information, technology and physical security regulations and be ready to engage with end users to ensure that services meet their needs.
The deadline for applications is 2 December, with interviews on 7 December.
